“For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God [acknowledge Him to His honor and to His praise]”
Romans 14:11
I remember the last day in 2023 I rededicated my life to Jesus. It was an interesting moment considering the fact that I’ve enjoyed many phases with the Lord, intimate even. But somehow, I didn’t feel close enough to Him because I thought I didn’t have that special day which would mean a lot to both of us (that I remember, of course) because I know He knows all the dates I’ve had to rededicate my life to Him even the first time I did, lol. However, I think what made this one special to me was the fact that I got to understand justification very well and it felt real. I didn’t intend on writing about justification today but I figure it would help a brother or sister so allow me take this detour.

Justification in my present understanding is what happened to me when Jesus rose up from the grave. Jesus’ death on the cross took away all my sins (past, present and future) and the penalty with it which is everything that has to do with death. And He rose up from the grave to give me a new identity which is righteousness (the eternal favour with God). That is justification. The payment of my sins did not make me justified but the fact that I am a new creation by virtue of Jesus’ resurrection, makes me justified. I know right, such a big word for being a born again.
So remember this, Jesus’ death on the cross did not make you justified. It only paid for your sins, meaning you were still guilty. However, when He rose up again, we rose up too because now, all our sins have been taken away and have been replaced with His righteousness which makes us justified. So now there’s no condemnation for you who are in Christ because Jesus has made you a new person- He has made you after Himself.
That’s why His resurrection is our hope for the future,
Now to what I really set out to write. I don’t know about you but when I accepted Jesus, I accepted Him as my Lord and Saviour and I’m putting it out here because I have seen and heard how others relate with Jesus and it gets me angry and worried about who they claim to be. I met a supposed child of God who believes God has called him to be a preacher but I look at how the person makes light of Jesus in some of his passing comments and I can’t hide my displeasure. Somehow, I wonder if he really accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour or it was “just” Saviour. Even if it was “just” Saviour, would you talk about your benefactor that lightly if you really know what He did for you? Anyway… I will be honest and confess that my life has not really been one that fully portrays a Lord and His servant but somehow I think we take some jokes a little too far. This audacious fellow lives however he wants and insists on starting a church but when he’s questioned about his behaviour, shamelessly says that “This Jesus you’re talking about, He is not there to be tied around our necks, (in other words, to deter us from our freedom) The only thing to do is tell others about Him. After all, He’s not my mother’s son for me to be so concerned.”
Maybe this doesn’t sound as bad to you as it does to me but seriously if someone were your lord, would you treat him this lightly? Caring less about how much he’s done for you? Even the harsh bosses we have here on earth, we think twice before talking about them in that condescending tone how much more the One who redeemed us with His own blood? Jesus could have just paid for our past sins and let us be as we would, but He chose to not only do that but to make us His own. We already owe Him our lives and we’re not even looking to having an intimate relationship as is, rather, we live to please ourselves and that’s why we can treat lightly what came as a heavy price to Him. Mercy on us all! And especially to me who is feeling this way because I’m not any better. This audacious fellow spoke what was in himself, and the fact that I haven’t spoken doesn’t mean I’m doing an excellent job either.
But friend, if you’re a child of God like I am, and you really accepted Jesus as not “just” your Saviour but both Lord and Saviour, then the least we can both do is not speak lightly of Him as if He’s just a thought or something that happened in the past which has lost its essence in our day. Jesus is Lord and it’s not a mantra, it’s the truth. One day, He will come again and when He does, every knee will bow- yours and mine and even those who wouldn’t want to bow. I just hope you wouldn’t be forced to bow at that time.
