Out of everything I wanted to be in future, teacher was none of them. Not more than once considered. And by this sentence you can know why- there are way too many rules to follow even for an “easy” subject such as language.
But I found that throughout my life, all I’ve ever done is teach others. Not necessarily with a marker and a board but with my actions and inactions. I didn’t have a drawn timetable or a curriculum to follow but then I was always present in every lesson I taught. You might want to reward me for my punctuality but before you do, you might want to take a look at what I taught first.

Would you care to rate my first lesson as good or bad?
First Lesson
I taught others how to put themselves above others. I taught them to think of themselves better than anyone else because they were responsible for their happiness. Would you rate that lesson as good or bad? Again, before you do, let me tell you what that lesson resulted in. People got greedy and hoarded everything good leaving the leftovers to others- to others less privileged. And I taught it passionately well because my students passed the test.

I taught it passionately well because my students passed the test.
Second Lesson
I also taught others how to forgive. I taught them, not with words but with actions that, it’s alright to forgive passively. To imprison them emotionally for them to feel nothing but guilt whenever they saw me by sketching smiles of spite and scorn. Little did I know that, I was the one imprisoning my own self. Now I’m beginning to wonder how many people I’ve led to a life sentence of imprisonment.

I wish I told them it was a self-imprisonment and that they could actually be free

Third Lesson
One last thing I taught others was to incubate their struggles and pain with a smile. I taught them that it was piteous to ask for help because then you get inferior and would be in the debt of others who don’t really care. I taught that people weren’t as caring as they look like because they were no different from the person we see in the mirror. So then, if everyone is the same as me, then what’s the point? Again, that lesson didn’t go so well although, I taught it with my all. That’s because I killed my students slowly on the inside without realising I was dying too.

I killed my students slowly … not realising I was dying too
The Teacher
However, a great Teacher came on the scene. One I thought I knew but didn’t know at all. And when He arrived, He saw the mess I caused and with patience, went over all the lessons with me again. It was there I figured that it takes love to teach. Voluntarily or not. Because we’re always teaching whether we realize it or not. And it’s impossible to assess yourself as you do because sometimes, you may have the least idea of what you’re doing.
However, I found the key, that if all you do is stemmed from the place of love, from Jesus, you can trust that you’ll be a good teacher worth learning from.
And soon when all is said and done, the great Teacher would look on you with pride and say,
“Well done, good and faithful servant”

“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”
John 16:12-13

At the end of the day it’s not about loving to teach but learning to love, to teach
