Blogpost: Heaven’s sinners and Hell’s saints

When clouds talk…

It was a beautiful work of art in the sky. Huge cottons of clouds with tinting shades of blue curved into an arc on the wide canvas watching earth.

I wasn’t so thrilled to see another of such painting especially because the rains had a knack for designing such works of art in the sky. It was more about what it made me feel the longer I stared at it.

While people bustled about under the sky, each one to their normal day’s work, I watched the clouds. The longer I did, I saw them like people sitting roundabout in a stadium, looking down on us, or was it me?

That’s what I ended up thinking anyway. Guilt washed over my demeanor as I recalled the dirty laundry I had stacked in my wardrobe. Obviously they needed a wash but that guilt wasn’t doing it.

I must have disappointed all these people up there, I thought. But almost immediately I heard a counter, “Not at all. Heaven has got some of the worst sinners, if sinners are those who do the bad stuff and hell’s got the best saints, if saints are the folks who are deserving or worthy.”

The great cloud of witnesses didn’t get it right all the time. If they are looking down on me from where they sit, it could only mean a few things: they’re cheering me on to run the race they couldn’t start, rise up where they have fallen and finish that same race they couldn’t complete.

I breathed a lot easier when I heard that. Maybe by history you have a record. A terrible one which only you know. If this helps, know that Jesus came to die for the worst sinner not the best saint. Perhaps you should talk to Him.

Run with endurance!

  1. “If they are looking down on me from where they sit, it could only mean a few things: they’re cheering me on to run the race they couldn’t start, rise up where they have fallen and finish that same race they couldn’t complete.” The highlight of the day for me..

This means a lot! Such a simple masterpiece. Thanks for the write-up. God bless you ♥️
